Our Team

Writers, editors, designers, and project managers. McMul hires W-2 employees—not contract writers or freelance editors—so every person placed on your project has been tested, trained, and mentored. And every team member is backed by a deep pool of additional resources if you need to quickly scale up.

Paige Frame President at McKinnon-Mulherin
Paige Frame President

The luck of the Irish brought Paige to McMul on Saint Patrick’s Day 2008. With an English degree from Utah State University in hand, she quickly progressed from technical writer, editor, and proofreader to director of operations, when she went back to school to get her MBA from Westminster University, and then became president of McKinnon-Mulherin in 2017. A year later, Paige was recognized as one of Utah Business’s Forty Under 40.

Ted Twinting Director of Sales and Marketing at McKinnon-Mulherin
Ted Twinting Director of Sales & Marketing

Boundless curiosity is at the heart of all Ted’s conversations. His thirst for knowledge led him to major in history and French at Utah State University before getting a master’s in nonprofit management from the University of Maryland Global Campus. Since joining McMul in 2018, Ted continues to be a lifelong learner using his decade of business and sales experience to connect the right people and bring clarity to a cluttered world.

Steven Clark Operations Manager at McKinnon-Mulherin
Steven Clark Operations Manager

As Walt Disney said, “There’s no magic in magic. It’s all in the details.” Steven makes the details look as easy as waving a wand. Whether drawing on his professional and technical writing degree from Utah State University to proofread a final document or using his MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University to manage our internal systems and send invoices, he’s been making sure every detail is in place at McMul since 2016.

Jennifer Hughes Manager of Editing and Excellence at McKinnon-Mulherin
Jennifer Hughes Manager of Editing & Excellence, Writer

This four-time limerick contest winner enjoys the challenge of getting just the “write” word. One of our best writers and editors since she started at McMul in 2015, Jennifer is now over quality and professional development. With an English degree and more than 25 years of experience, she helps cheer, mentor, and coach our team to write right and deliver their best work on every project.

Everywhere she goes, she’s recognized for her hard work and creativity, including winning McMul Awards since 2018 and being a finalist in the AECT Design & Development Competition.

Jennifer Fegely at McKinnon-Mulherin
Jennifer Fegely Project Manager

Extreme dedication is what gets Jennifer up at 4 a.m. for international client meetings—that and more than 12 years of management experience. She leans into her communication degree from the University of Utah to both write clear content and develop relationships with clients. Queen of managing calls, schedules, and personalities, Jennifer is an ideal keep-your-cool project manager.

Brianne Sorensen Project Manager, Writer at McKinnon-Mulherin
Brianne Sorensen Project Manager, Writer

Brianne is so proactive she might just be a mind reader. Whether writing a blog, leading a meeting, or organizing a Gantt chart, she impressively delivers with little direction. Her degrees in journalism and English with a professional and business writing emphasis from Utah State University prepared her for the wide variety of work at McMul, which she does so well.

David Wilkinson at McKinnon-Mulherin
David Wilkinson Instructional & Graphic Designer

David personifies our Flexibility value. He was a graphic designer working in broadcast journalism for nearly 20 years before getting his master’s in instructional design from Utah State University. Now, at McMul since 2019, he’s melded his expertise in both types of design to deliver the right graphic or training interaction for many happy clients.

Careers

Are you picturing your face here? We are always looking for diverse candidates to grow our pool of talented writers, editors, instructional designers, graphic designers, and project managers.

Our History

Our History

On May 20, 1997, Kate Reddy, Regina Davis, and Shauna Bona incorporated McKinnon‑Mulherin and named the company after Kate and Shauna’s moms. Our three founders continue to serve on the company’s board and guide McMul to continued success.

1998–2001. Steady Growth.

Business grew steadily over the next three years as we developed an in-house team of information designers. In 2001, McMul passed the $1 million mark in yearly sales.

2003–2004. Banshee.

We created, developed, and released the web-based training application Banshee, which enabled companies to deliver fast, effective e‑learning to their employees and customers. In 2004, Banshee was the runner-up in Stoel Rives technology awards.

2007. Double-Check.

We created the quick-turnaround online proofreading service Double-Check for projects that need a final proofread from a real person—not a machine.

2010. Virtual Office.

Since inception, we’ve offered telecommuting to employees. In 2010, nearly our whole team was working from home, so we decided to become a completely virtual office. Team members were just as efficient and responsive from home offices, and McMul continued to uphold our objective of workplace flexibility.

2017. New Leadership.

After nine years at McMul, Paige Frame became president of the company just before our 20th anniversary. We continued to build the management team by promoting Madeline Brown to team leader, Steven Clark to operations manager, and Ted Twinting to director of sales and marketing. Founders Kate and Shauna started McKinnon‑Mulherin Consulting.

2018. Coworking Space.

While McMul continued to thrive as a virtual company, several team members wished for more in-person time and a consistent option for client meetings. We found a best-of-both-worlds solution by joining a coworking space at the Work Hive. Our team still works primarily from home, but now we also have a dedicated office space for meetings and collaboration.
