National Association of Women Business Owners® Announces Leadership Awards

NAWBO® Will Honor Entrepreneurs from Utah, Texas and Illinois With Leadership Awards
(McLean, VA)—The National Association of Women Business Owners will present women entrepreneurs from Utah, Texas, and Illinois with NAWBO® Leadership Awards. The Leadership Awards—Unsung Hero, Pioneer, Rookie of the Year, and BridgeBuilder awards—are recognition for women business owners who have shown leadership and success in their businesses. These award winners will be honored at its NAWBO's 2005 Annual Women's Business Conference, from June 9-11, in Orlando, FL.
Kathleen Reddy, McKinnon-Mulherin, Inc. from Salt Lake City, UT, is the recipient of the Unsung Hero award. This award recognizes entrepreneurs who are critical to the growth and health of an organization. Kathleen has given back to the community, worked behind the scenes and didn’t look for credit in assisting NAWBO Salt Lake City's growth. According to Jan Hemming, past president of NAWBO Salt Lake City, "Communications is the lynchpin or glue that holds most chapters together and Kate is our glue. I can't imagine where the NAWBO Salt Lake City chapter would be without Kate Reddy."
Shawn McCormick, Summit, DME of San Antonio, LLC, from San Antonio, TX, will receive the Pioneer award. Shawn's pioneering spirit has provided the recipe for success. She is innovative, creative and inspiring, as well as a visionary. According to Shawn, "I'd like to believe that like a desert flower, I could learn to adapt and bloom in just about any environment."
Sharan Tash Mishoulam, Waterford Pointe Dental Associates, from Buffalo Grove, IL, is the recipient of the Rookie of the Year award. Sharan is a new NAWBO member who has jumped in and become a visible supporter of the organization. This award recognizes the entrepreneur who brings new energy and thinking to all organizations. Sharan’s lifetime goal is to "strive to be a strong role model for my children, and make every effort to earn their respect not only as their "mom," but as a successful business person that believes in giving back."
Janet Kay Hemming, JKH Associates, from Salt Lake City, UT, will be honored with the BridgeBuilder award for her ability to build alliances and form coalitions in Utah. Janet is involved in community outreach and is adept at pulling groups together. In her public relations organization, Janet works to "Tell your story, sell products or services, or build a reputation in today's busy communications environment requires a specialist with experience and proven performance."
Joan Walters, Data Comm Networking, Inc. in Burr Ridge, IL, is the recipient of the Team Builder award. This award is given to the person who can find people to do the work and motivate them to reach great heights. According to Claire Calthamer Gregoire, president of NAWBO Chicago, "She encourages us to try new things, and knows how to get the right people involved to make these happen."
