“Yes” Utah and McKinnon-Mulherin Create Website to Help Recognize Healthcare Professionals Who Make Donations Possible

SALT LAKE CITY—“Yes” Utah and McKinnon-Mulherin, Inc., teamed up recently to create a website to help recognize health and emergent care professionals who make organ, eye, and tissue donation possible. The “Yes” Utah Award was designed to recognize and honor the professionals who provide patient care and support for the families through the donation process. The “Yes” Utah Award website (www.yesutah.org/award) provides the means for the co-workers, family members, and others who see these efforts on behalf of donation to nominate those professionals for recognition by filling out a short, web-based nomination form.

The award nomination process is open to anyone who facilitates donation, such as nurses, doctors, medical staff, chaplains, funeral directors, social workers, or anyone who has shown great compassion in supporting families through the donation process, according to Deborah Ott, professional education and family services coordinator for the Utah Lions Eye Bank.

McKinnon-Mulherin, a Salt Lake-based strategic information design firm, got involved in the project to help the “Yes” Utah meet its need to get the word out and nominations in via the World Wide Web. “This project involved getting information to a broad range of professional individuals who support organ, eye, and tissue donation,” Ott said. “We needed a website and a logo developed for our recognition program that would compliment our existing ‘Yes’ Utah registry (www.yesutah.org).” Being a non-profit organization “Yes” Utah had limited financial resources with which to develop the website. McKinnon-Mulherin agreed to create the site pro bono as part of its ongoing efforts to give back to the community.

“We turned to McKinnon-Mulherin and their talented staff to develop both the logo and website. We are extremely pleased with the outcome and the timeliness of the project’s completion,” said Ott. “McKinnon-Mulherin worked with us to meet the need by our program launch date of April 1, 2003, despite last-minute changes and evolving project requirements. We would recommend them to do web-development projects without reservation.”

Visit the “Yes” Utah Award website at www.yesutah.org/award for more information or to nominate healthcare professionals who support organ, eye, and tissue donation. Monthly award recipients will receive a certificate of accomplishment and a 14k gold “Yes” Utah ring. Annual award recipients will be presented with an engraved timepiece and a $100 gift certificate to any Gastronomy restaurant. “Yes” Utah is a joint effort on behalf of the Utah Lions Eye Bank, Intermountain Donor Services, and the Intermountain Tissue Center to raise awareness about organ, eye, and tissue donation in Utah.
