NAWBO Member Spotlight September 2005

Kate Reddy
McKinnon-Mulherin

Kate Reddy is the President-Elect for the NAWBO Salt Lake Chapter. She has a BA in English from the State University of New York and a MFA from Columbia University. Along with Shauna Bona and Regina Davis, she founded McKinnon-Mulherin on May 20, 1997. Making no initial investment of capital, the founders built the company purely with sweat equity. McKinnon-Mulherin has grown each year since then, serving clients in the information technology, communications, manufacturing, and financial services industries. McKinnon-Mulherin's competitors generally fall into one of three categories: staffing companies, specialists in a particular technology set, or high-priced consultants who focus on process rather than delivering tangible results. Most of the consultative vendors are struggling with online development and implementation because they've mastered the lingo but not the tools. Those who are successful with the technology tools often focus on bells and whistles and do not pay enough attention to content. McKinnon-Mulherin fills the gap by providing companies with an information design partner that can combine technology, content, and strategy to design training and documentation that really meet the needs of the audience.
