Shauna Bona Mentors Winning Team for AECT Award

10/2007

Melinda Sota and ChanMin Kim of Florida State University received the Best Presentation award Thursday in the 2007 PacifiCorp Design and Development Award Competition co-sponsored by PacifiCorp and the Design and Development Division of the Association for Educational Communication and Technology (AECT). Shauna Bona, copresident of McKinnon-Mulherin, served as mentor to the winning team of graduate students. Volunteer mentors come from academic or corporate backgrounds and provide graduate students with between 30 and 50 hours of guidance in the areas of instructional design theory and practice.

As one of three finalist teams who presented at the AECT conference in Anaheim, Sota and Kim received free registration to the conference, and their program at Florida State received a $1000 check toward a student scholarship fund.

Other finalists were Steven Harmon and Sandra Valenti, Emporia State University (mentor Dr. Rebecca Cohen of Federal Express) and Travis Eschenmann and Thomas R. Jeffrey, Virginia Tech (mentor Dr. David Merrill, Florida State University).
